As a Youth Worker, you will assist the Program Coordinator with development and implementation of our summer youth social/recreational programs. All hours will be on site at Tempo Youth Services and out into the community for field trips. In addition, you will uphold our mission by developing meaningful relationships with youth participants, leading workshops, teaching and assisting with activities and monitoring the overall care and safety of our youth participants.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Leading and running workshops for 12 youth participants between the ages of 6 and 12
- Responsible for care and engagement with youth participants
- Help youth participants with activities scheduled for the day
- Help maintain the schedule for the day and to keep youth participants on schedule
- Provide leadership and initiative in teaching and assisting activities
- Always accompany youth participants
- Provide an environment of safety, guidance, motivation, support, care, and encouragement for all participants
- Must attend all staff meetings
- Communicating with parents, providing updates where required and answering questions about the recreational summer program
- Communicate with youth, parents, and program coordinator in a professional manner
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be 14 to 17 years old
- Must have NYS working papers
- Must be organized and able to maintain sign-ins
- Must be able to observe youth participant behavior, evaluate its appropriateness, and enforce and implement appropriate behavior management techniques
- Must maintain a positive attitude and provide a positive environment for participants
- Must have at least one personal/educational or work reference
- Must have access to a smart phone
- COVID vaccination is required for employment
